Fighting February Playlist

Playlist time!  I know February is supposed to be about LOVE and all that stuff, but whatever!  Sometimes I'm more of a fighter than a lover ha, ha!  You see I have BIG, hairy, audacious, goals this year and I'm not going to get far unless I'm a fighter and press on to succeed with those goals.  I need some serious good tunes to keep plugging away and dominate at the gym.  Are you still fighting to stick with those 2011 New Year resoloutions?  Last month there were some good ones that kept the workouts flowing and put a little more pep in my step.  This month is no different.  Thanks to all that shared their goodies!  If you missed last months, check it out HERE.  Now on to February's finest.  Here is the current list.

1. Little Bit - Lykke Li
Ahhh the Twilight flavor.  A good song to warm up and get grooving to or for that serious climb or monster hill.

2. Rolling In the Deep - Adele or Rolling In the Deep (Jamie XX Shuffle) - Adele
Adele has such a lovely voice full of soul. Great to warm up to or an easy climb.  The second version is a remix that adds some fun drum beats if you need a different style for another workout.

3. Sweet Disposition - The Temper Trap
Just a beautiful song!!! Loving this right now.  You can really get in a zone whether that's a long run, spin class, or lifting.

4. I Like It (feat. Pitbull) - Enrique Iglesias
I'm enjoying the latin pop flavor.  Shake your booty to this and pick up the pace in your workout.

5. What the Hell - Avril Lavigne
Not lyrically a genius song, but I can't stop singing along.  I know, pathetic!  Definitely a fit for those early 20 somethings.  Oh well, forever young, right?!

6. Raining (Extended) [feat. Sunsun] - Kaskade & Adam K
Unfortunately playlist.com didn't have this in their library. Another "lose" yourself song.  I dominated some sprints in cycling class to this song.  Gets me spinning fast!

7. One (Your Name) - Swedish House Mafia feat. Pharrell
Club flavor here, but I could do some serious kickboxing damage to this song.

8. Alors on danse (Remix) [feat. Kanye West & Gilbere Forte] - Stromae
Dance away to this in your local Zumba class, or hey bootcamp-- Get some damage done!

9. Miami 2 Ibiza (Radio Edit) [Swedish House Mafia vs. Tinie Tempah] - Swedish House Mafia & Tinie Tempah
I could spin for hours to this or get lost on the elliptical.

10. Barbara Streisand - Duck Sauce
Now this song will either annoy you or you will laugh along to the beat.  Every time I hear it, I seem to be lifitng and I'm laughing to myself.  Who makes a Barbara Streisand song?  That would be a group with the name Duck Sauce.

11. Grenade - Bruno Mars
A little overplayed as of recently, but I keep plugging away in any workout when I hear it.

12. The Cave - Mumford & Sons
A fiddle to put a pep in your step.  Mumford doing their thing!

13. God - Tori Amos
Not a new one but came across in my music library.  A classic that I thought needed to be recirculated.  Passion in the song here and a good one to end the workout with.

Happy listening!

New Year Playlist

It's a new year and you are motivated to reach those health and fitness goals!  New tunes are always a must for your trusty mp3 player.  I have my ipod charged up and found a great mix of new tunes to help fill up your playlist.

I have to say I'm a little perturbed with Apple and iTunes right now as the latest update got rid of the iMix feature.  So all songs below are available on iTunes, but you must click the links for each song here to be redirected to the songs.  Sorry for the inconvenience but Apple isn't helping my go-to resource. Someone get me a tech person!

 1. Firework- Katy Perry
A fun warm up to get the body ready to roll.

2. Check It Out- will.i.am & Nicki Minaj
"Video killed the radio star" throw back and I love the beats on this!  Brings back some original MTV moments with that modern update to take my workout to the next level.

3. Dancing On My Own- Robyn
So you've worked up to a good zone in the workout, now you are in cruise control.  Good tempo to maintain the heart rate in a flat ride or run.

4. Come With Me- CEO
Sometimes you just need to find another element or world to zone out to to keep up the momentum in the workout.  This song takes you to that zone.

5. Holiday- Vampire Weekend
Vampire Weekend is just fun.  Great fast tempo to bust out a good sprint.

6. Who's That Chick (feat. Rihanna)- David Guetta & Rihanna
Just need some adrenaline?  Great combo with David Guetta & Rihanna.  Sometimes you just need to dance and this beat steps it up.

7. Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)- Shakira
World Cup theme song here and the African flavor via Shakira is just an inspirational tune.  You are close to being done with the workout and need something to bring it on home.

8. 1983- Neon Trees
Maybe it's because I have many memories from my childhood in the 80's, but Neon Trees brings a good tempo to crank out the last third of my workout.

9. My Body- Young the Giant
Thanks to one of our readers, My Body was suggested for a playlist.  Go dominate a climb or run some monster Roller Coaster hills (that's for you Rose) with this one.  Great lyrics that will push you to to the edge. "My body tells me no. But I won't quit cause I want more!"

10. Tighten Up- The Black Keys
A slower tempo or cool down song to wrap things up.  You can cycle a hill to this or work a mean strength training workout.  Your choice.  Some fun flavor here!

Here's to a healthy 2011!  I hope you reach new heights and achieve great progress with your health and fitness goals.  A little mantra for you, "My body tells me no! But I won't quit 'cause I want more!"  Go get after it!

Holiday Kickoff iMix

I promise I have not forgotten about you.  Dynamic Edge has been working hard in planning and putting together some great things for the new year. The office has been buzzing and we want you to end the year strong and keep that blazing momentum into the new year with healthy habits.  With a brief lag in a new post, I put together a November playlist to keep you grooving.  I had so much fun and nostalgia going through the music library, that I may post another playlist this month just so I can share a few classics from some fun years.  I may date myself by doing so, but they elicited so many fun memories that I cannot resist.  Stay tuned later this month for that one.  Check out our latest playlist here on iTunes.  Enjoy!

1. The Time (Dirty Bit)- Black Eyed Peas
So if you loved Dirty Dancing back in the day, you will love this revisit by the Peas.  They have some fun bringing back a goodie and giving it a dirty bit club feel that picks up the beat.  Great for any interval training.  You can really get in a groove with this.

2. Club Can't Handle Me (feat. David Guetta) - Flo Rida
This song has just been fun.  I find myself lifting to this all the time.  Great for spin class too.  It's a 'don't -mess-with-me-I'm-in-my-zone' song.

3. Stuck Like Glue - Sugarland
So I have to confess, I enjoy almost every genre of music except country (sorry to my country crooners).  There always seem to be an exception to my music likes and Sugarland does it with this song.  Maybe it's because this is just a happy, positive song and I feel like most country songs are sappy, depressing tunes.  A good, easy tempo for an easy run or ride.

4. 1, 2, 3 Turnaround - Christian TV
So I still don't really get this song.  It is really random but I love the beat and sound of it.  Great for circuit training, intervals, and BOOTCAMP!

5. Get Outta My Way - Kylie Minogue
Dating myself once again, but I love Kylie Minogue and loved her back in the day.  It's great she is still making fun music.  The sassy part of me loves to tell someone 'Get outta my way'!  I love spinning to this song.

6. White Knuckles - Ok Go
From the crew that made a video of The TreadMill Dance, here is a great new sound from Ok Go.  Sounds very much like old Prince to me, but that's probably why I like it.  PS If any of you feel the urge to choreagraph an updated treadmill dance to this song, please send my way.  I love the creativity!

7. Take Over Control --Radio Edit (feat. Eva Simmons)- Afrojack
This song is to tackle the treadmill sprints with.  I find the groove and tempo and get after them.  Let me know how you fair with this tunes.

8. C'Mon (Tiesto vs. Diplo) - Tiesto & Diplo
Another up tempo and high intensity tune to bust out some sprints or max the heart rate exercises.  Whether you are hitting the pavement, attacking the bike, or dominating the treadmill, let this song lead you.

9. Raise Your Glass - Pink
Sometimes we need to Raise Our Glass to hard work that pays off.  You've worked hard, shown progress, and need a little time to let loose here... No you are not day dreaming, go celebrate once you've reached some of those goals.

10. Been Caught Stealing - Jane's Addiction
I love this song!  I used to run to this when they still had Sony cassette sport walkmans... Yes pre-CD players...  Does that make me old??  Nonetheless, I still like to kick butt on a run to this song.  Always motivating and stirs up some feistiness.

I'm always listening!  Send me your training favorites.

Fall Season Playlist

Fall is officially here and it has been gorgeous in the Pacific Northwest!  Our fall bootcamps are in full swing and we are getting those bodies primed for the upcoming holiday season.  No thick insulation layers on these bodies.  Here is our latest playlist.  Keep those workouts coming and dominate the fall season!

1.  Total Life Forever - Foals
A nice easy paced song for strength training or moderate pace work.  I just feel I could do some even keeled endurance work and get in a zone with this song.

2.  We Speak No Americano - Yolanda Be Cool & Dcup
Really I feel this song is kind of random, but it is fun and has a great beat.  Old school cafe song with a modern DJ mix to it.

3.  Magic (feat. Rivers Cuomo) - B.o.B
Who couldn't use a little magic for their workouts.  Anyone up for some tabata training?  Great for intervals.

4.  Dog Days Are Over - Florence + The Machine
Great for warm up before the real deal begins.  Calming and peaceful, yet picks up to get you jamming for the core of the workout.

5.  The Catalyst - Linkin Park
Love some new stuff from Linkin Park.  This could be Dynamic Edge's theme song for bootcamps.  The ultimate catalyst song to get us going HARD!  I'm talking a knackered workout.

6.  Little Secrets - Passion Pit
Special request from a bootcamp client.  Fun beat!  I could keep this rolling with some good stength training workouts.  Another "get in the zone" song.

7.  If I Had You (Jason Nevins Radio Mix) - Adam Lambert
Most of you know I love a good dance remix and this is a great one for Adam Lambert.  Great spin or interval mix.

8.  Busy Child - The Crystal Method
I pulled out some old favorites from the music library.  Crystal Method will always get you pumped up for the hard ones.  No easy workouts while this is playing.  If it is easy, you best pick it up a notch.

9.  Express Yourself (Morcean Worker Remix) - Charles Wright & The Watts 103rd Rhythm Street Band
A classic!!  I loved Remember the Titans and pulled this off the soundtrack.  This is a great mix that I could run forever to.  Enjoy this mix!

10. Renegades of Funk - Rage Against the Machine
Back in the day Rage Against the Machine was with me for a lot of workouts, warm ups for basketball, pre-meet preparation for track meets... you name it.  It just got me pumped up for some tough competition.  Excited to pull this out of the vault.

Enjoy & Happy Training!

The Back To School Edge iMix

Hey all!  Well it is official!  Dynamic Edge has made its move and is back settled in the Pacific Northwest.  Big move, back to school, back to routine, and now need some tunes to stay motivated for fall bootcamp training or whatever fitness activities suit your fancy.  Now I know it is gray, drizzly, and a little chilly already here in the Pacific Northwest.  That makes for a disaster on the motivation front for staying fit.  I know all I want is a nice warm Starbucks in my hand and to curl up with a blanket in front of the TV.  Why does this weather do this to me?  Some good tunes always tend to get me out the door.  I just found some awesome new trails to test out that included fern gully, lots of mud, and an endless supply of slugs (if you are not from the Northwest, then go Google slugs for a great picture of the lovlies we have around here).  Good thing for new trail shoes, so off running I go.  Happy fall training!

1. Dynamite- Taio Cruz
What can I say?  This song just makes me want to dance or RUN my hiney off.  Great beat to stay moving to.

2. DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love- Usher
Usher has some great ones and after some life experiences it appears his newest work will be great as well.  Another one that makes you want to boogie, so why not spin away to this or climb that next hill?!!

3. Ride to California- Paper Tongues
I have to say I really enjoy these guys.  Their blend of rock, rap, funk, pop fusion works for me.  Great song to pump out some extra reps with those dumbbells.  Plus, I think I am secretly missing California...

4. Alejandro (Dave Aude Remix)- Lady Gaga
This mix is really one I love for cycling.  It really helps me get in the zone on those flats.

5. Rusty Cage- Soundgarden
A classic one that I had to resurface.  Really enjoy this for a great strength training workout.  A little angry, rock motivation to get those last reps in.

6. For the Love of Money- The O'Jays
Really do not judge me, as I do not have a fascination for money...  I just really love the funk and soul of this song.  Great warm up into the real workout or for some climbs on that bike.

7. Misery- Maroon 5
I love that Maroon 5 is back.  Great, catchy tune that can pump up your workout.  Plus, the lyrics really stick with you.

8. I'm In Miami Trick- LMFAO
The clean version of course.  Just love some funk from LMFAO.  Great beat that will push you through that next mile.

9. Sweet Emotion- Aerosmith
Classic build here.  Steven Tyler and the greatness of Aerosmith in its finest.  Most of the time the song just brings me back to Dazed and Confused, but I love to rock out at the gym to this one.

10. California Dreamin' (Tekhouse Extended Mix)- Royal Gigolos
The first time I heard this was in spin class (thanks Jody Talbott), and I love the twist of an old favorite.  More club version,  but definitely works for any intervals.  Plus, I do miss my California...
